Volcanoes... I ask you!

Was booked to fly to London tonight for the GBS Support Group conference http://www.gbs.org.uk and my Dad's 75th. Assuming Heathrow will be closed, I rang Fastnetline (Swansea Cork ferries, in which I have shares!). There is foot passenger space but they want to charge me for a seat I won't use or a cabin - this is sneaky - they don't do it on the Rosslare route and never used to on the old SCF. Also the website is a bit rubbish - it told me there was no space for foot passengers tonight but when I rang that was incorrect. Hmmm. I think the People's ferry is a great idea but there are still a few rough edges. I want it to succeed but can't say I'm overconfident.
